Wonderland in the Alleyways is the interior design of a residential lobby in Taoyuan, Taiwan. The 274 square meter space is inspired by the atmosphere of a French cafe. Mild and cheerful colors are combined with ceramic tiles and metal details. Wood, stone, glass, ceramic and fabric balance sharp and soft surfaces. A vaulted glass ceiling in the hallway brings in natural light and draws the eye upward, which reduces the effect of the low ceiling. Wooden window shutters create layers, so entering each area feels like walking through quiet alleys.

About eighty percent of the design is produced with off-site laser cutting, which reduces cost, construction time and on-site labor. The result is a dessert store where one everyday object shapes every main spatial element.
