Red Brick Hotel

GONG XU Hotel Interior Friday, 2 October 2026

Red Brick

Red Brick is a hotel interior at Qinglong Mountain, created through the adaptive reuse of an old wharf. Reclaimed red clay bricks form a light permeable screen instead of a solid wall. The bricks are perforated and held by a concealed stainless steel system, so no wet mortar is used on the facade. Daylight passes through the small openings and casts changing patterns on the interior surfaces. The dry assembly protects the fragile bricks, reduces water use and allows later disassembly. The project reuses heritage material as an active building element.

People connect through the cafe, and a community is born. As these encounters continue to connect, they will remain in people's memories and give them a favorable impression of the facility. The two-layered honeycomb panels surrounding the elevator create a flower-like pattern when one of the honeycombs is rotated 90 degrees.
